Old trunks like this come into our shop every year. Not only are they nearly indestructible (which explains why they last so long) but usually they are family trickle-downs that people love to restore.
Even when visible rust is present they will clean up beautifully. The wood slats are usually Oak or Ash over a metal-sheathed pine case. As seen, the wood, as well as the metal, returns to a rich, glowing color produced with NO stripping using our CCR method.
As easily seen in this photo the transformation is evocative of the saying "turning a sow's ear into a silk purse."
