This rolltop desk has a low sleek profile compared to the S-curved top that's usually seen. Dating from ca 1915,

this is truly a "diamond in the rough"...and I do mean rough!

When it comes to veneer damage, I thought we'd seen everything but not so. As if stored in a damp garage for decades wasn't bad enough, the owner nudged his car's bumper into it, cracking the side panel.

Masterfully made from mahogany veneers and solids, it needed repair/replacement of both on this writing surface. The damaged long edge rested against a wet concrete floor for years which dissolved the glue joints
